    six

there are now six states in the US with same sex marriage. ftw! states (and canada) in pink represent plases that have gay marriage, light pink, new york, recognizes marriage performed elsewhere, dark blue are states with full DP/CU (Domestic Partnership/Civil Union) laws, light blue is limited DP/CU laws, red states have statutes prohibiting gay marriage, and states in black are the worst of all! they have constitutional amendments in their bullshit constitutions prohibiting gay marriage or gay marriage AND civil unions. assholes right? finally grey states are states that have no law barring gay marriage, but also no law providing it. keep in mind that every one of the states that has DP/CU laws also has a statutory ban or constitutional ban on gay marriage. joyous huh? oh well were making progress
basically it all comes down to this. that southern extension of canada thats amazing and we like to call New England and say is part of the US, is AMAZING (except for Rhode Island, which has no laws), and that little island of pink in the red and black...Iowa...thats also amazing. states with DPs/CUs...kinda sort. if your into segregation. red states are 2nd lowest, and black states are just horrible states that sicken me...idk.. i was bored so i did this.
i really hope new york and new jersey follow most of new englands suit...this year. theres probably not hope in Rhode Island until the next election...their governor would veto even if they did pass it. even though 60% of rhode islanders agree with giving marriage to same sex couples. but whatev.

    Green Day Goodie

so this one is an oldie already (happened on may 22nd...omg ancient), greenday performed a number of songs, including their old 90s hit 'Longview' and the censors totally messed up. which is amazing. i wish i could have been in that crowd, just to swear on network tv!! they let two shits and one fuck in, they didnt even try to censor the last word. hahaha. censorship sucks. heres the vid:

    5:

Welcome to New Hampshire, currently we are going to the House of Reps to be passed again, this time with senate provisions, then there's a pretty good chance that the Governor will either sign us into law, or let us become law without signature. Next stop: Maine.
I <3 New Hampshire, I really didn't think the senate would pass it. What I've been hearing is that the Governor is against it, but will likely sign it or let it become law without signature (he is a democrat so he has to watch his ass on issues like these where a majority of people in New Hampshire are for marriage for same sex couples). Here's to hoping the governor will allow the will of the people, and legislature reign over his personal opinion!

douchebag of the [unspecified amount of time]

    From WCAX in Vermont:

Same sex marriage supporters have cited civil rights as an issue in the debate, which got Bill Hogan's attention. "It occurs to me that there is a civil rights issue," he said. "The presumption when asked by somebody I'm just meeting that I'm married, that -- oh -- to a man or a woman? I think that change of the definition violates civil rights for those of us who have a traditional view of marriage."

really? apparently its your 'civil right' to have people perceive you ONLY as heterosexual. im kind of at a loss for words.
you must be very insecure about your sexuality if youre threatened to think that someone might think that-GASP- you have teh gay!!!
a very ignorant person deserves the first title of douchebag of the [unspecified amount of time]. congrats!!

    iowa is amazing

iowa, of course legalised marriage for same sex couple. which is awesome.
some opponents say that the court "overstepped its boundaries" in this ruling. this is a very common argument, but it is false. US and state supreme courts have ruled on many controversial issues throughout the years including on Native American issues, what qualifies somebody as a certain race ,the black civil rights movement, and abortion. the court has always done this, and the constitution gives it this power, as an equal branch of our government.
in my opinion voter initiatives like proposition 8 are more of a miscarriage of justice than a court ruling for sure. we are a republic (or representative democracy) not a pure democracy. we elect leaders (or as in the case of some courts, they are appointed by elected officials) to rule on issues, we dont put all issues on the ballot, something that is costly and time consuming, and in some cases morally wrong (like putting the rights of a minority up for a vote by the majority), and NOWHERE in the federal government (or in some states, like minnesota), are voter initiatives allowed.

another rant (quite a childish one actually)=over

    lobsters feel pain--seriously?!

I'm sorry but some things should just be humanitarian, and dont need science to back it. A new study is being written about on MSNBC and im sorry to say it but it just makes me hate the human race just a TINY bit more. in a poll linked to the story, there are 3 options to the question 'would you swear off lobster and crab if the research is correct?' and they are: yes: i would take them off the menu, maybe: it depends on how they were prepared, and no: pain is a fact of life for food.
well the results are in: 36% for yes, 20.7% for maybe and 43.fucking4% for NO.
    really?
43.4% of the human beings polled in this poll, i can now say, are worthless pieces of shit. Let's just rip the legs off of live crabs just for the fun of it, lets crowd lobsters into a smelly, shitty tank and keep them there before we eat it. I wonder if these 43.4%polled would object to a lion eating a human alive. i'm sure they would. because after all we humans are above all. no, we humans are animals just as the dogs we keep are animals, just as the lions that EAT US are animals. to some species of animal, and other certain humans, the human is food. so 43.4% of people polled, is it just fine to eat humans? a lion tears off the arm of a living human being while the shrieks and calls of the pitiful human go unnoticed by the lion enjoying some arm meat. YUUUM! get me a piece of that! this is what humans do all the time to lobsters and crabs and other crustaceans. we brutally torture them while enjoying their delectable limbs.
consider this asinine comment on the pollboards:
" If they weren't meant to be eaten then why do they taste so good?! HAW!"
asshole. some other humans, and many other animals consider the human race tasty, i guess we should be serving ourself up at buffets right next to the all you can eat lobster right??!! serve it up with a little butter and just gobble it down!
there are options alternative to eating other animals: vegitarianism, and an alternative to dairy products as well: veganism. the fact is though, that those are not for everybody. for all the vegitarians and vegans out there i commend you and hope to join the ranks someday, hopefully, but the fact is not everybody will stop eating other animals. because people will keep eating other animals we need to ensure the passing of very strict laws for the killing of animals for food to make it as humane as possible and fund research for one day growing meat in a lab .
if one day we are able to grow all the meat we need in labs, it would be cruel to keep slaughtering innocent animals for food, and at this point of technological advancement in the future, eating meat from real animals should be made illegal.
    thats all, rant over

    friday roundup

    • Gordo the skateboarding bird was KIDNAPPED!!! His father says the bird is pretty feisty and will likely bite the person who took him. Go Gordo!! I hope he fucking bites out the eyes of the asshole who kidnapped him. i seriously hate people sometimes.
    • Quiznos is out with a slightly dirty advert. Have to say the 17 yr old teen in me loves it. wait...anway here it is:
    • Channel 4 programmes on Hulu! C4 is the channel in the UK that has some of my favorite shows like Shameless, Skins, Big Brother (UK), and quite a lot more, and many shows from this channel may be going up on the online Fox-NBC venture Hulu soon! One warning to the suits at Hulu: you better not censor these shows! Foreals, Channel 4 has very provacative shows that often use very fowl language and have a lot of nudity, and i will have no censorship of these awesome programmes.
    • and finally: Is this the future of the republican party? moderates? I have to say if it is i cant live with it, this fierce liberal would mostlikely still support his democrats, but if a situation arose in which there was a very conservative blue-dog democrat running against a moderate repub...well i'd have to see whats up, because i so wouldnt vote for a conservative no matter what party they are from.

    Wizard and Glass

Wizard and Glass is the 4. of 7 books in the Dark Tower series by Stephen King...and i have to say it might be my least favorite. I haven't really sat down and read it in two weeks. thats bad. The thing about it is that it delves very deeply into the main character, the Gunslingers (Roland of Gilead) past. Really i dont mind flashbacks, but for some reason this ones just not sitting well with me. just as the characters are getting to a mysterious building in the middle of the Kansas Turnpike, the story totally cuts off and we find ourselves many years earlier with a witch giving a girl an exam to test her virginity...and no hope to get out of this flashback until very far in the book. I love his writing, but im just not loving this backstory, but on the other hand i do understand how important it is to know about Rolands past and then move forward again. Whatevs.

    excerpt:

    Old-fashioned values

Church-goers bought less online porn on Sundays – a 1% increase in a postal code's religious attendance was associated with a 0.1% drop in subscriptions that day. However, expenditures on other days of the week brought them in line with the rest of the country, Edelman finds.

Residents of 27 states that passed laws banning gay marriages boasted 11% more porn subscribers than states that don't explicitly restrict gay marriage.

To get a better handle on other associations between social attitudes and pornography consumption, Edelman melded his data with a previous study on public attitudes toward religion.

States where a majority of residents agreed with the statement "I have old-fashioned values about family and marriage," bought 3.6 more subscriptions per thousand people than states where a majority disagreed. A similar difference emerged for the statement "AIDS might be God's punishment for immoral sexual behaviour."

"One natural hypothesis is something like repression: if you're told you can't have this, then you want it more," Edelman says.

∫omehow, im not really surprised. repressed people lead to more people going out there to try to get something forbidden. If the leaders of these states didnt have such an unhealthy fixation about hating sex and trying to control what people do in the bedroom, and they allowed sex-topics out in the open, people wouldnt be spending time alone online looking at sex. A more healthy thing to do would be for two partners to enjoy pornography online with eachother as a sort of cyber foreplay. Instead we have horny hypocrites on our hands, by day they are righteous and speak the word of god, by night they are just another lonely surfer on the web.

    ∫uch is the world.
